I set out on a different path initially. I studied Film & Televison with American Studies at the University of Nottingham as I wanted to work on the production side of the entertainment industry.
During my degree, I studied an e-commerce module with covered topics such as marketing and business analytics. This really piqued my interest and landed me my first real job in e-commerce.
Since then, I’ve worked in roles involving managing teams, optimising customer user journeys and working in affiliate marketing. This surely prepared me for my role at Kindred for Business.
I’m a Quality Assurance Manager here at Kindred for Business. This means that I'm responsible for ensuring a high success rate on merchant checking, including developing and implementing strategies for optimizing the testing process, analysing data to identify areas for improvement, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals.
My favourite part about my job is the different people I work with on a day-to-day basis. Whether it’s our partners, stakeholders, affiliate networks or brands, there’s always something to learn. It’s also rewarding to know that as a team we’ve understood the obstacles our partners face, and we’re creating solutions to effectively overcome them.
You definitely need to be resilient, especially in a startup. You also need to be open-minded, open to learning and furthering your education on the job so you can always deliver your best. Collaborating effectively with your team is key too, especially as Kindred for Business is a remote company. Lastly, I’d say I enjoy the fact that for most things within my department, we measure success numerically. This helps me see how we are performing and where we can improve.
I’m a WFH kind of guy. I prefer WFH because there are fewer distractions. I’m able to communicate with my team members in a more direct approach and I like the flexibility it brings.
“Work towards having a good work-life balance. Know when it’s time to tune in and knuckle down, and when it’s time to come up for air.”
I got offered a scholarship to an NAIA school in America to play American football. I was also given a sports scholarship to the University of Nottingham to play American football which is where I ended up studying.
